Since celgene's office is also his bedroom I think the idea of like, ep 3 after everything is said and done and cel brings everyone up to his office, Sonny is in bed still but woke up after cel got up and so when he comes back to the room, Son's just like "What was all the commotion about Cel-" and he's just met with the sight of celgene leading the vagabonds in, a very beat up Mr. Y and Phil, and the dead body of Mr. Smiles being dragged into the room while Dolly lays out a tarp and Cel and Sonny just kinda look at each other very silently for a hot minute before they're like

"I don't even- go back to bed doll"

"Yeah im goin back to bed"

In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?

Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?

Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?

i finished burial at sea 2 like 30 minutes ago and damn.

the only good stuff from those dlcs was Ryans fursona, moderately cool stealth mechanic and mr Karl Hanover (+Booker and Elizabeth voice actors were great too!)

though i pissed my pants every time i saw anything referencing the first game (cuz apparently the second game does not exist or something idk)

i will never understand the lack of book/michael fics out there like disco has given us so much for them esp because book doesnt even show up in the top 10 of disco characters on ao3 even tho he's helped a ton with michael's character development and is so interesting in his own right

how do book and michael as a ship only have 54 fics but owo/detmer has 200+????

i love ash and pike and i understand why they both have so many fics with michael but pike knew her for all of one season and whatever he heard through spock and ash and michael were so fucking unhealthy. book is so healthy for michael and so good for her and they have so much space where people could write fics for them but they gets jack and shit in comparison to other ships.

also they stay friends after they break up and its so clear they still have unresolved feelings and fanfic writers are so good at exploring that in the ways shows dont!!!

not going to lie as soon as Michael started talking about a first officer my mind jumped to Owosekun and Rhys and when Saru said Booker would make a good XO I was offended on their behalf because the man’s not even technically in starfleet

The writers and David Ajala did such a good job with Book that even when he's completely in the wrong, doing something terrible, and putting Michael in a horrible position I still love him so much, and that never wavers for a second. There's a lot of characters on this show that the things they say to or about Michael or the positions they put her in, years later I am still mad at them about it. But you always empathize and understand where Book is coming from and love him even if he's wrong and incredibly frustrating

rocking back & forth trying to be normal abt the way people talk abt bsi i am going crazyyy........ there is critique to be had but people's full disengagement from anything else the story has to offer or attempt to reconcile its intent with its execution makes my head blow up. bc i don't think they actually understand its intent. or themes. which is crazy bc personally i think the bioshock series hits you over the head with what it's going for even if it doesn't always get it right. like i do not know how much i can emphasize that the point was not centrism. that was a mistake in execution. i literally cannot think of another mainstream game that comes anywhere close to confronting america's history and flaws-inherent-in-its-founding head-on the way infinite does.

also i DO think a lot of my reaction comes out of playing if before the original series and therefore not having the expectation that it's a 'choices matter' game (which. it's sort of barely in the gameplay in the original but i do understand it's in the text) and also the themes of it are very up my alley! arguably much more than the original! but i don't think that's an excuse for every audience member being unable to engage with a new game and world on its own terms

Hey, I saw your post on how m/m relationships are predominantly written by women! I'm sorry people always default to defending themselves for shitty behavior by claiming misogyny. I think that a fair few of the fem side of the queer community haven't really contemplated their biases or how we are also facing unique forms of oppression.

I would like to say that as someone who collects books about mlm romance, I'd love to see your recommendation list regardless of the note count on that post! Also! I'd love to give you a recommendation myself if you haven't read it already! I absolutely recommend Self Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore! McLemore is a Latine Nonbinary writer who, as part of a remixed classics series, wrote a queer take on The Great Gatsby. Both Nick and Gatsby are trans, and their identity is explored and handled beautifully. I haven't read any others of the Remixed Classics series but the whole point is to diversify and transform the original premise. There's a handful of Mlm romance books in the series but I can only vouch for Self Made Boys. I hope if you decide to read it that you enjoy it just as much as I did!

Oh! I have Most Ardently pre ordered! It's a trans Pride & Prejudice retelling, & I'm so damn excited for it! I have the whole series on my wishlist too.

My personal goal is to also have a Remixed Classics book published, although I'm not gonna say what it's gonna be on just in case. A boy can dream, tho.

If I were to publish a post curating a list of queer masc fiction (& also non-fiction) I highly recommend you & everyone else to add onto the post yourselves! I'm afraid my journey into the queer side of lit has only started 2 years ago, with my reintroduction to literature itself, so I don't have as many books as I would like to have. I do have a few rare gems on my shelf, tho, like my copy of Hung Jury by Trystan T. Cotten, or the Dairy of a Drag Queen by Crystal Rasmussen. I do have a few more popular books tho, like T.J Klune's work or the comic Bloom written by Kevin Panetta & drawn by Savanna Ganucheau (I hope I wrote those down right.)

Either way, I'm always looking for new queer masc works written by queer mascs, & would love to undertake a project like the post I mentioned!
